Cryan - Richard J.
Richard James Cryan, 84, of East Aurora, NY, passed away on June 28, 2022 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children, Richard James Jr (LeeAnn), Theresa, Michael (Debra), Debra (Guy) Potter, Peter (Cathy), and Jill (James) Cordes; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings, Patricia (George) St. Angelo, Frank (Cathy) Cryan, Margaret (Bruce) Handford, David (Joann) Cryan and Mary (Steven) Millett. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. Cryan and Ellen Lancaster Cryan; his sister, Ruth (Thomas) Constantine and his brothers, Robert (Betty) Cryan and Michael (Judy) Cryan. Richard was sworn in as a New York State Police Trooper (Troop A) in 1962. He was subsequently promoted to the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Based on his high record of commendations and convictions, he was assigned to the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency and collaborated with local, state, federal and international police agencies. He was also a New York State Police Fire Arm Instructor and was a respected expert witness in drug-related court cases. Memorial Mass to be held at a later date.
