BATAVIA CHAPTER
Joseph V. Carmody of Bainbridge, NY, a retired New York State Trooper and a life long area resident, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was 84.
The son of the late Joseph and Lois Bundy Carmody, he was born December 8, 1936 in Morris, NY. Joseph proudly served as a New York State Trooper for 29 years; he was a life member of the Sidney Elks Lodge #2175; and a member of the National Rifle Association. After retiring in 1993, Joseph spent much of his time riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing and playing golf. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sally Decker Carmody, at home; two daughters, Colleen Carmody of East Rockaway, NY and Sharon Mozzi and her husband Bob of Dalton, MA; three sons, James Sutherland and his wife Laurie of Fabius, NY, John Carmody and his wife Josephine of White Plains, NY, and Patrick Carmody of Sylvan Beach, NY; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
