 KENNETH KREMENICK OBITUARYKenneth J. Kremenick, 83, a longtime resident of the Town of Milan passed away at his home on June 28, 2022.
Born in Manhattan on May 21, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Lillian (Jankowski) Kremenick.
Ken graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx in 1958. He attended Brooklyn Technical College (CUNY) and New York University, where he studied Business Law and Accounting.
On October 8,1960, he married the love of his life, Lorraine Brandes in Jamaica, NY. Lorraine passed away in 2007.
As a young adult, Ken was employed for a brief time by the New York Stock Exchange by day, and in the evenings was a professional percussionist playing the drums with The Quarter Tones, a jazz ensemble, performing in nightclubs in the NYC metro area. He also enjoyed playing the accordion. He was a passionate and naturally talented musician who sought out opportunities to free-lance with other musicians as often as possible.
In 1961, he joined the NY State Police, serving much of his tenure stationed at Troop K Rhinebeck/Poughkeepsie. In 1979, he was promoted to Technical Sergeant / Supervisor of Communications, Troop L (East Islip) until his retirement, after 21 yrs of service, in early 1982.
He became a licensed Realtor and was Office Manager of George T. Whalen Real Estate, Inc Pine Plains Branch for several years. He also took a leadership role on the Executive Board of the Pine Plains Business Association.
In 1983, he was elected Milan Town Justice and continued serving the bench until the day of his death. He also served a term as Milan Town Supervisor in the early 80's. As a dedicated, elected town official, he had committed a total of 38 years to local government. He was an active member of both the NY State Magistrates Association, as well as the Dutchess County Magistrates Association, which he presided over from 1994-1995.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many years as an active member of the Red Hook Country Club.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura Haley and her husband, Michael, of Clifton Park and Lynn Kremenick Magnarella of Pine Plains, son-in-law John Magnarella of Milan; and three grandchildren, Zachary Haley, John and Matthew Magnarella, as well as his younger brother, John K Kremenick of Mahopac, and 11 cherished nieces and nephews and their families.
Memorial hours will be held at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St. Pine Plains, NY on Saturday, July 9th from 1pm to 4pm.
A brief time of remembrance will begin at 3:45pm.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
